A CBR-approach to product retrieval is often said to be better than just listing the products. In this paper we present an empirical evaluation as an approach to give scientific ground to this hypothesis. Six steps of evaluation are proposed, starting with the specification of the problem and ending with a final decision between the alternatives. Such a procedure as a general practice enhances the objectivity and validity of an empirical evaluation.
